Maybe you are interested in the history of needlework, I have a number of pages broken down by each period, with the Tudor period being my favorite time in history. |
I find it really quite amazing to see how different styles have come and gone through the ages, and how fashion dictated what was, and what wasn't popular in the world of needlework.
But my love of needlework doesn't end with a completed project. I can spend hours trawling through the internet, finding interesting articles, or looking at old samplers, and just marvel at the detail and how well they have survived time, some of them look like they have only just been stitched.
You will also find a number of interesting articles based on everything that is needlework and cross stitch, in fact you should find everything that you are looking for right here. Some of the articles have been archived in order to make room for new articles, so if you can't find a particular article, you should check out the archive section. I will be adding new articles on a regular basis, so you should check back often.
Under recommendations, I have included a number of books that I think may be of interest. Each recommendation comes with a short synopsis and why I have recommended it, I will also be adding some interesting ebooks soon, all relating to needlework.
In the meantime, you may like to check out some of these receommendations
As a child I can remember crocheting and knitting, and at school learning sewing -mainly hand sewing as we only had one sewing machine for the whole class! Although it was many years later before I got totally addicated to cross stitch, but it was from cross stitching that I developed a love for all things needlework,
I have many books on the different techniques and styles, and am always amazed at what can be achieved with a simple needle and thread, and it is from this love and fasination that I created the Simple Way 2 Needlecraft.
I would love to teach the world the stitch, but as that is quiet an ambition I will settle for reaching like mined people through my website, a site hope will be a source of interest and inspiration for all.
If you have any stitching stories that you would like to share, please email them to me and I will included them in the Readers Stories section.
Happy Stitching!!
